12u NOCO Fastpitch – Schumann

Head Coach: Koa Schumann
Assistant Coach: Kacey Uhlenbrock

The 10U NOCO Fastpitch is a 1st year 12u team moving up from NOCO Futures into competitive C level competition. Our goal as a coach this upcoming season is to work on development, teamwork, and sportsmanship. Also, the importance of teamwork and collective effort, ensuring every player understands their role and how they contribute to the team’s success. Encouraging skill development through consistent practice and positive reinforcement to help each player improve individually and as part of the unit. It’s also beneficial to set goals around sportsmanship, teaching the girls to compete with integrity and respect for their opponents. Lastly, fostering a fun and supportive environment can keep the team motivated and excited to play, which is essential for young athletes. The journey is just as important as the outcome, so celebrating small victories and learning from setbacks can be incredibly valuable for our team’s growth.

This team will play local IPGSA Fall Ball, as well as IPGSA league and tournaments in the spring/ summer.

Koa Schumann:

From a young athlete starting baseball at the tender age of 7 and transitioning to softball at 9, to a coach with a deep-seated love for the game, my journey has been driven by passion and dedication. My developmental years on the diamond were marked by a commitment to excellence, which led me to be a varsity player for all four years of high school. My agility and strategic insight excelled through, earning me all-conference honors, placing 2nd at state and setting a school record for stolen bases.

Softball was not just a sport; it was my first love, despite being a multi-sport athlete throughout my life. The lessons learned and the skills honed on the softball field have been invaluable, teaching me the importance of resilience, teamwork, and integrity.

As a coach, I bring these experiences to the forefront, aiming to inspire and develop young athletes. My approach is rooted in the belief that sports are more than just games; they are platforms for empowering young women, teaching life skills, and nurturing a lifelong love for activity and competition. I am committed to creating a supportive environment where every player can excel and where the values of hard work, respect, and sportsmanship are paramount. Together, we will strive for success, celebrate our achievements, and most importantly, enjoy the journey that is softball.

Kacey Uhlenbrock:

From the bleachers watching my siblings to the heart of the diamond, my fast-pitch softball career began with a spark at age 11 that ignited a lifelong passion. Throughout high school, I sharpened my skills and developed a deep love for the game, a love so enduring that not even ending my playing career post-graduation could diminish it.

The game of softball is more than just a sport; it’s a community, a teacher, and a source of unending joy. My decision to coach was inspired by my niece’s blossoming passion for softball—a mirror to my own at her age. Now, as a coach, I am committed to passing on this legacy, to nurture and guide young athletes in their pursuit of excellence.

My goal is to instill in them not only the technical skills needed to excel but also the values of teamwork, perseverance, and sportsmanship. I aim to foster an environment where each player can grow, learn, and develop a lifelong appreciation for softball, just as I did.
