RECRUITING
The Game. The Strategy.
On average 7% of high school student-athletes go on to play a collegiate varsity sport with 2% playing at the Division I level. Recruiting is about consistent communication, creating your brand and showcasing yourself.
You don’t need a fancy agency to promote you but you must be willing to put yourself out there, communicate to coaches consistently, attend showcase tournaments and camps, and most importantly DO THE WORK.
This information will provide tools and guidance to help you narrow down and determine what type of school you are interested in (size of school, location, areas of study etc.) as well as provide a road map regarding communicating with coaches and promoting yourself effectively.
Here’s the deal – YOU (athletes I’m talking to you!) have to do this work! Not me, not your mom, not your coaches. We are all here to help you and provide a platform to showcase you but YOU must reach out to the schools, YOU must develop your list, YOU must determine what you are interested in studying and YOU have to put in the hours of practice to refine your skills and compete with the thousands of others who want the same spot you do.
Through this process remember one thing – at the end of the day, all of us hang up our cleats and step off of the field for the last time. Make sure you select a school that will prepare you for life after softball and provide a quality education that will serve as the platform for your success in life.
